SMC molds are one of the main tools for producing SMC products. SMC has various uses and can be used in residences, workplaces, and roads, among other fields. If the glass fiber material is combined correctly with resin under suitable conditions and at a sufficient temperature, it has high plasticity, i.e., the kind of fluidity required for mold production. When the temperature of the resin and fiber decreases, it becomes exceptionally sturdy. The strength of the glass fiber and resin composite is high because of the high-strength characteristics of the glass fibers, making it ideal for doors, ships, and storage of heavy materials.


To produce SMC molds, a master mold, i.e., a sample product, is required. The master mold is an accurate replica of the desired product. The rubber layer made on the mold can be used on the master mold, and it is essential to apply a layer of lubricant when finishing the production, which can help the mold smoothly release from the master mold. Usually, these lubricants are some waxy substances and sometimes other materials are also used as lubricants. After the mold is released, wax-like lubricants pose minimal harm to it.

The SMC molding process is an advanced composite material forming technology, and the mold is the foundation of producing a product. The same goes for the SMC process, and the quality of the product is provided by reliable molds. Therefore, in the design of the SMC molding process, the design of the SMC mould is critical. Moreover, through the surface treatment technology, often they can achieve twice the result with half the effort. The SMC mould's surface treatment technology changes the surface of the mold through surface coating, surface modification, or composite treatment technology, to obtain the desired surface performance's systematic engineering, including chemical methods, physical methods, physicochemical methods, and mechanical methods.
