1. SMC mold compression molding process is an advanced composite material molding method

The SMC molding process is an advanced composite material molding method, and the SMC mold is the basis of the SMC process. Good product quality is guaranteed by reliable molds. Therefore, in the design of the SMC molding process, the design of the SMC mold is particularly important.
2. SMC mold compression molding process
(1) In the process of SMC mold design, the cavity of the mold should be designed according to the specific size of the product. In addition, the appropriate material should be selected according to the surface quality requirements of the product and the size of the demand. In order to ensure the quality of the product and the feasibility of the process, the shearing edge and ejection system of the mold should be reasonably designed.
(2) SMC molding compound is somewhat different from the usual thermoplastic and thermosetting injection molding, mainly because the shrinkage rate of SMC molding compound is low, so it should be changed when designing the size of SMC mold.
(3) SMC molding compound is obtained by molding with specially designed hydraulic press. The performance and accuracy of the press and the design of the SMC mold are directly related to the accuracy of the molded product. The SMC molding process is mainly realized by the press and the SMC mold.
(4) The molding pressure of SMC molding compound is generally between 2.5-10.0MPa, and the molding pressure for car-grade SMC products is as high as 12.0-15.0MPa, so it has high requirements on the rigidity and parallelism of the press. The dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the product can have a major impact. Especially for mass production of products with high repeatability. In addition, the press needs to have adjustable quick closing, mold opening speed, and slow closing/opening speed to meet the needs of different SMC molds and reduce or eliminate product deformation and surface defects.
